The first in the McDonnell Douglas MD-80 family of twinjets entered service in 1980; the company built nearly 1,200 MD-80s and variants over a 20-year period. This intriguing artifact is a genuine engine burner can from an MD-80 Pratt & Whitney JT8D engine. This piece, made from Hastaloy X and Inconel 625 alloys and 410 stainless steel, has been cleaned, polished, and given a clear powder coat. It has been fitted with a polished 1/2" glass table top.
