Footnote: Flight Lieutenant A.D. Speare, Royal Canadian Air Force was with 2420 Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron (Auxiliary) RCAF, in London, Ontario, on June 29, 1959, when Phase Two of the Reserve Tradesmen Training Plan began. As members of the Primary Reserve, sixty London area high school students took an eight-week course as fighter control operators and clerk typists, with Speare as their Chief Instructor. Recruiting was again initiated for the Reserve Tradesman Training Plan on January 28, 1960, with Flight Lieutenant Speare, CD heading a committee in charge of the selection of applicants. He gave out the awards for the for highest marks in the class on August 29, 1960.
